I love to crochet in my spare time for friends and family, but I think sometimes I overwhelm them with all my crocheted gifts.

Does anyone know of any LOCAL charities/hospitals that are in need of crochet items like hats or blankets...or anything crochet?

Thanks!!

There are many churches that have prayer shawl ministries. These are groups of people (mostly women) who knit or crochet shawls that are given to people who are ill, who are struggling with physical or mental illness, or who have suffered the loss of a loved one. Some shawl ministries buy the yarn for the knitters (and crocheters) and some use donated yarn, or a combination. Most ministries like this pray for the recipients and bless the shawls before they go out. I have talked with many people who have received these, and they are often very much comforted by not only the shawls, but the prayers that they know travel with them. I would encourage you to find a similar group. I'm sure they could use your talents. Call the church office of whatever church you might feel drawn to and ask them if they have such a ministry. Personally, I knit for Oak Hill United Methodist Church. I also knit hats for cancer patients who have lost their hair. For that, I would ask any cancer treatment center about whether they need this. Sometimes they already have enough. Thank you for asking the question and for wanting to help others.
