I've seen this thing online a few times. Where is it? Where do you park to walk to it?

There's no specific parking for it because it goes all the way around the lake. I would just pick a spot near it on Google Maps and do a "search nearby" for parking. Like this:

after 6, you can park in the Statesman parking lot. Ostensibly to watch the bats, but doubt anyone cares.

On the map submitted by teasipmom (thank you) there is a parking indicator that says "Parking under Ashton," but no directions or any indication of how to get there. I can't find any entrance on street view. Where is the Statesman parking lot?

The Statesman parking lot is right off the bridge as you cross over the river here

Nope, the boardwalk runs on the south shore from roughly the where the Statesman is to east of I-35.

The pedestrian bridge crosses the river at Lamar.

You can usually find free parking at most of the City parks around the lake and on the streets nearby.

Park near one of the B-Cycle stations and rent a bike. The boardwalk is more fun on a bike IMO. Plus you can explore more of the trail to the east of it, or even do the whole loop (11 miles isn't bad on a bike when you have a dedicated trail the whole way). Well, technically there are still a couple of blocks which are not officially dedicated trail, but it's way easier than before. You can also make a pit stop at the Rainey street b-cycle station and enjoy a drink or some food there.

Interesting. I will have to see if I can find that and a place to park on the next warm weekend. I can't recall ever seeing any of those roads though I have heard of 35. I did the Pfugler one as that's where the first linked map opened.
