Hey guys I am looking to relocate to Austin in the next 2 months. I decided on Round Rock and have an apartment complex in mind. I am waiting to find a job or at least have 2 offers on the table before I move. Any advice for a single mom moving from NYC? Has anyone else relocated from a big city with a child? Any tips on what to look for on my scouting trip? Any tips on finding jobs from out of state? For someone who did relocate from somewhere else and is in the round rock area---- how are schools? Are the communities welcoming to new people? Are there a lot of hospitals or medical centers?

Since I am a single mom I will need reliable child care.. any suggestions? Are they trust worthy? Are they expensive.

Any and all advice welcome: things to see/ comments/ things to avoid/ tips.

Btw I'm am looking to move by June or before pending a job offer

You will definitely need a car like previous poster mentioned. We moved from NJ 2 years ago (not too far from the NYC area). The schools are good in Round Rock for the most part, then there are a few not so great ones. How old is your child? All the school advice given to me was mainly to steer clear of Stony Point HS, even from those ppl who had children currently attending. My kids are still toddlers so I don't know abt that first hand.
