I've been living in lower, east Round Rock and the commute is too far to downtown Austin.

I need a neighborhood between Round Rock and Downtown that is convenient, safe, and has good schools (elementary). I need to drop my son off in the mornings in RR sometimes, so it can't be too far from there.

I'm looking to rent right now, since I'm still new to the area. House, duplex, or apartment is fine as long as it is a good neighborhood. I will be visiting with an apartment finder this weekend, but thought maybe the forum could provide some insight on the neighborhoods.

I appreciate any and all input!

Allandale Estates goes to Pillow ES, an exemplary school, Allandale goes to Gullet, also exceptional. Hill ES and Doss ES are very good too. All south of 183 and on both sides of Mopac. Avoid TS Brown as an elementary school.

That's great info thanks! Is there anything a little further north?
