That is sad and puzzling, they don't say which vehicle was on the wrong side of the road.

The victims in a deadly crash Southwest of Austin on Saturday have been identified.
The crash happened just after 5:30 a.m. in the 12000 block of West U.S. 290, near the Hays-Travis County Line. When first responders arrived, they found two cars had crashed head-on and that one of them was completely engulfed in flames.
According to Department of Public Safety officials, 28-year-old Jeffrey Edward Skrhak was driving his BMW headed east in the westbound lane of U.S. 290 when he crashed head-on with a Honda SUV traveling west.
Skrhak and the driver of the Honda, 46-year-old Frank Trenholm Lyman III, were pronounced dead on the scene of the crash.
Lyman’s 5-year-old daughter and 42-year-old wife were also injured. They remain hospitalized in critical condition.

Such a shame.

I have driven that road many times and it did not seem any more hazardous than most similar highways. Does it really have more accidents then other similar roads?

I wonder if this person was a BMW driver Jeffery Edward Skrhak Mugshot and Arrest or Citaton Record - Williamson County, TX

Anyway, 290 definetly need an improvment, at least some lane dividers. Drivers who are jumping from crossing roads directly into middle line on 60MPH highway are presenting hazard not only for the traffic but also for themself...

yes it has more accidents so much that tx dot lowered speed limit down to 60 instead of 65 but they still speed over 65...I have been tailgated while I do 60...

Didn't they just finish widening 290 not long ago? I'm thinking the problem is the drivers, not the road.

Nope. It's never the person who crossed two lanes and was driving on the wrong side of the road or the person who ran a red light at a safe speeds fault. It has to be the city or county's fault for having a road there and also making it so tempting to dive like a maniac.

I worked with Frank and his sudden death has me shocked. He was one gem of a person and extremely smart. My heart goes out to his young kids and wife. His wife and 5 yr old are recovering.

I looked up what exactly happened and found a blog by Jeff Skrhak's relative:
