Does anyone know or can anyone recommend a great pediatric ophthamologist in the Austin area? I would love the north Austin /Round Rock area but would travel as much as I need. I already have the names of two doctors from my son's teacher, but would love input from anyone who has any information.

Thanks in advance!

The ONLY one worth anything, in the area - Dr. Busse.

Everyone uses him. He's excellent.

My son has a vision impairment/legally blind. He was even recommended by our DR. in Seattle, prior to our moving out here.

What Dr. did you go to in Seattle? Was it Dr.Epley? He has also recommended Dr.Busse for our Daughter.

I will gladly give my very best recommendation to Dr Busse as well, he is absolutely wonderful. We had two bad experiences with Dr's in Austin until we were sent to him. He's very, very good.

Cheers

Thanks you very much! He was one of the two my son's teacher gave me. My son's doctor back at Vanderbilt in Nashville just called me with his name too, so he must be good!

I appreciate all the replies!

Statefan,
When you mentioned "Vanderbilt in Nashville" I jump to attention. The good Dr's. there worked miracles on my Nephew and saved not only his life but also his limbs. I love that place!

We lived just outside Nashville for 11 years, and working for doctors myself, I had always heard bad things about Vanderbilt (basically because it was a teaching hospital). The Vandy Lions Eye Center was beyond wonderful when it can to treating and taking care of my son. The Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt did a wonderful job before, during and after his surgery. All considering, it was a good experience and I highly recommend the hospital to any parents!

They certainly worked miracles with my Nephew. My Sister-in-law also just happens to work there and know all the Dr's.
