Beyond the endless construction and growth between cedar park and leander- and even more coming including the hospital expansion and plans for the area surrounding the cedar park center- another heb on Anderson mill and 1431 and all the crazy development going on along lakeline/ and 1431/Parmer cedar park has plenty of room to grow along with its neighbor leander which has vasts amounts of available land as well... Stick to austin because I think way too many people are out of the loop with these two areas these days

Which one of those proposals includes dense residential development (you know, since we were talking about the _population_ of Cedar Park)?

Oh, and one of those links is _Leander_, an entirely different city (one which, unlike Cedar Park, has been open to density and transit oriented development).

This proposal is for a mixed use development right next to the Ranch at Brushy Creek in Cedar Park.

New mixed-use project coming to Parmer Lane - Community Impact Newspaper

And having lived in Cedar Park as well as right on the border of it for the past 9 years, Cedar Park is all about generating tax revenue. If that means building a hockey arena, a water park, or as many hotels as possible, then they'll do whatever they can to get it done.

1. It's not mixed use development. It's apartment buildings next to (but separated from) separate commercial/office buildings. In other words, like _any apartments in Austin_.

2. It's not dense. It's all surface parking. It's 3 separate 4 story apartments.

And of course, that's assuming it even happens (the residential is to be built by a different developer at some point in the future in a "second phase").

Though I will admit they're at least willing to admit to the existence of apartments, which they've been totally against before.

Only Novacek could take an article that says 'New mixed use project' and declare it isn't mixed use because he doesn't like it.

It's a heck of a lot more mixed use than your traditional suburban zoning. Ain't no offices going next to SFH in Circle C.

Totally agree! I am constantly amazed at all the land clearing and buildings popping up every week here around Lakeline/183/Cypress Creek. Seems every nook and cranny is got something going in. Was out walking several times over the weekend and thought "when did they build that" and " wonder what's going in there"!

Neither are there here (SFH are separated from offices by the apartments, a road, and a freaking berm).

There's some offices next to some apartment buildings (actually some offices next to parking lots next to apartments). How is that any more mixed use than any apartment building in Austin?

Here, here's some apartments next to some restaurants/bars. Is this mixed use?

Sure, even if it's not as dense as some would desire. The only difference between that and the Domain is that there are apartments on top of the restaurants and bars.

I take your point, which is that there's mixed and then there's mixed OHAI OFFICE WORKER IN MY ELEVATOR but it's a scale, not a binary state. But this is the burbs we're talking about. Baby steps?

Well, and the Domain has structured parking and (some) transit accessibility.

Sure, and I acknowledged this at least represents some forward progress in that they're at least allowing some sort of apartments to be built.

Of course (back to my original point) all of Cedar Park's land will be used up before they're done with these baby steps, and their population will max out.

Still don't understand why this is a concern.
