So, basically I get the sense that the commute from River Place to the Domain is not too bad. Any idea if there will be future development in the area? I mean it's only about 4.5 miles to 360, but it would be annoying to move and then have the commute get demonstrably worse.
"not too bad" is not quantitative so it doesnt have any meaning. Personally I would not do that drive as I think it is terrible. However I personally dont like to commute for longer than 10-15 minutes. I also dont like completely stopped traffic.

2222 will continue to get worse as development spreads further west.

97, I've basically done this commute in the afternoon (at 5pm, 5:30 & 6:00) several times. (starting from north of the arboretum, then south on 360 a few miles, then west on 2222 to Vandegrift HS).

My definition of "wasn't too bad" was driving 30-40 mph on 360 for a few miles (sitting thru one light cycle at Spicewood) & then driving at 40-50 mph up tumbleweed hill on 2222. Took me about 22-25 min. each time. For me, not a bad commute thru a pretty stretch of hill country.

Maybe someone who does the commute in the morning can chime in. I don't know how 2222 backs up turning left onto 360 at 7am or 7:30.

I've found the traffic to be worst on that stretch from about 6:30 AM until 9AM and then 4 PM until 6:30 PM. For some reason, at around 6:30 PM, the road clears a bit (from bumper to bumper to 30-50 MPH doable). So if you can time your commute to work later, it will work out better. I suggest 10 AM - 6/7 PM.
