Tinting is popular in Austin. It is very hot, and everyone has tinting. Most cars sold already have tinting. Maybe add tint to older cars. I think Dallas and Houston might be better for you. Big market.

Tinting in Austin is a thriving business. Lots of people tint their house windows. And most new cars need additional tinting. I added tinting to my new BMW last year.

No because it gets so hot in the summer that small mammals explode in the trees.

Strange comment.

Any east or west facing windows should be tinted or covered to reduce heat gain. And nobody here has burglar bars.

I've seen solar screens, but not tinting. I personally think solar screens look ghetto too. Why wouldn't you establish landscaping instead? Allow natural light, and reduce SHGC (Solar Heat-Gain Co-efficient). The solar screens just make you turn on lights in your house - using electricity to run the lights, and A/C for the heat load generated from the lights. Lose-Lose situation, and quite honestly I find tinting and solar screens to be a lazy solution.
