I am looking to start building homes out in the Austin area. I am coming from San Antonio and drywall installation and finishing prices are pretty low and reasonable down here.

What's the average board foot price for labor only in tract homes(such as DR Horton, Ashton Woods, etc) with the builder supplying Sheetrock and drywall contractor bringing labor and mud?

And what are prices looking like in custom homes?

I'm looking for a range so I can estimate my costs to build out that way. And also how much is each individual trade getting paid (Sheetrock hangers, tapers and texture crews)? Thanks in advance.

I am two weeks into a superintendent position with a track home builder in Austin. All I can say is that I am horrified by the subs in this area. I built custom homes in N.C. and I not only did not use subs of this caliber, I did not know they even existed. Be prepared to berate half assed work out of people who don't want to be there. Feel free to pm me.

How much are you paying per board foot to your drywall sub?
Are they supplying Sheetrock or is the builder?
My drywall guys are the worst down here. But I make sure and bring them out until the job is done right.

I will check. I have not gotten that far into the company yet. From what I have seen it will all depend on volume.
