The critter problem.....

It is clear to me that too much of our population is city-raised babies. Yes we have bugs and some interesting critters. Almost none of them are harmful. I feel fortunate to live around wildlife. Even if some of it can sting me.

Tarantulas don't hurt anyone. Don't smash them.

Scorpions do hurt when they sting. You can smash them.

Very few snakes are poisonous. Learn which ones are.

Lizards are cool. Keep your cat away from them so they can live long and prosper.

Giant centipedes are spectacular, and they sting too. If you have no choice, smash them too. But you might just leave them alone if they aren't in your house or where you live and sleep.

Every place that is warm and has some humidity has roaches. But I don't see them often.

Fire ants are a problem. You can't get rid of them, but you can control them with commonly available products.

This was an awesome summary of Central Texas critters, hoffdano, made even better with a little Vulcan reference. I think this should be printed on the back of the "Keep Austin Weird" shirts and given out to newcomers.
