We may be moving to TX from WI and are looking for information about a smaller town, with good schools, newer homes but at least 1/3 acre or more. Any ideas?

Someone else just asked that same question Buda, Dripping Springs, Manor, Elgin, Bastrop, Taylor, Hutto, Granger, Thrall. Those are some surrounding small towns. There are others too. Maybe Bandera, Kerrville, Salado, Johnson City, Smithville, La Grange, Jonestown.

I wouldn't venture further east then Taylor. Thrall is very small (pop 680 or so) with not much of a town. There are some newer homes on the south side of 424 but there's just a handful there. Looks like someone subdivided and built spec homes to sell. Thrall is very much a small rural community with no amenities except for the feed store from what I've seen.

I don't doubt that. They do have a walmart Just throwing out ideas Smithville and La Grange MAY be a little further than you want as well, although people do commute out from there.

depending on your budget i would also suggest SW of Austin, Dripping Springs, Wimberly area. It's part of the Hill Country and has rolling topography. It's a great area of growth and seeing some of the best appreciation in the region. Good schools and an easy commute.

I am not opposed to an existing home but would like a little more middle-upper class home. Nothing over $300
