OK, OK, I know it is not In-N-Out Burger or Tommy's Burgers but it is a start. I hope they don't start stocking mustard and keep them burgers just the way I like them, mustard free!

For the un-initiated, their menu can be found here:

Umm ummm good, the menu

There used to be one on Burnet Road until a few years back. The worst of the CA burger chains. :P

Carl's Jr is a good chain. I'm glad they're trying to get back into Texas after a brief run in the 1980s in Dallas. They do have a few free-standing locations in the Wichita Falls area, and are also found in Dallas at all Love's Travel Stop locations. Still, there aren't many in Texas, but they are scattered. My favorite is still the Western Bacon with the onion ring on it.

And for the record, I'm a mustard guy.

They were completely separate stores here....are you sure? Carl's Jr. (at least the one I knew) was very much a burger joint, while Hardees made more types of sandwiches and breakfast stuff....

CKE is the parent company for Carl's Jr. and I believe Hardee's. CKE is Carl Karcher Enterprises. So yes, you did go to a burger joint. Sadly, Carl passed on this past Jan. 11th at the age of 90. CKE is, or was, based in Anaheim CA so it was a big deal in Orange County, and he was always pointed at as an example of hard work paying off.

Now that I think about, I remember meeting him on a Southwest flight from John Wayne airport to Sacramento. He gave me two free Famous Star burger coupons that he signed personally. I almost wish I still had those, but the signature was good for free fries and a beverage in addition to the burger, and since I was waiting tables at the time, free food won that battle!

I love that six dollar burger. When I bought a $6 burger at a Carls Jr. in Hawaii it was actually $7. Why didn't they call it something else?

The Western Bacon Cheeseburger is good, but I know that some people find the char-broiled meat at Carl's Jr. to be a bit overdone and dry.

I've never really gotten over Carl's Jr. switching from "crinkle" fries to the ones they serve now. As a kid in the 80's, I would sometimes stop by Carl's Jr. just to buy crinkle fries and nothing else.
