My daughter and her family live in Round Rock. My grandson just graduate from high school and he did well. A lot of diversity and over 4000 students. Have three nieces who attend school there. All doing well. Yes many different housing areas and not all great. One thing for sure you get a lot of bang for your buck as all my relatives living there have beautiful homes in super nice neighborhoods. Will try to locate this thread and give you the names of the areas each has bought into. Do know the prices were way under 300,000.

Just received info from daughter in Austin. My relatlives are in the areas of' Stone Canyon, Mayfield Ranch and Bent Tree. Avery ranch community is very nice she said. Cedar park area nice with small town feel. Leander schools are excellent she said. Believe were talking the area of west Austin. City is massive. This should help you to search and maybe locate areas of interest and costs, crime etc.

No, that's McCallum and it's in AISD, not Round Rock.

Thanks Eirenecat: Got my "Mc" confused. :-)

Both of my kiddos are more on the artistic end of the world... singing, writing, drawing, acting, playing instruments..... (Did not get that from their momma!) So I am interested in learning more about McCallum's program.

Anyone have experience with McCallum?

It is an excellent, competitive entry program. You can learn more here. McCallum Fine Arts Academy: Home

I have friends who go to McCallum specifically for arts and they have loved it. I personally think Anderson is the best school in AISD but more for academics. I have also heard negative things about Stony Point but don't have specifics - just that some friends I know moved to RR for the schools and are moving out because they were zoned to Stony Point

I had a friend who moved to California so he could meet all the attractive movie stars....but he's moving back because he didn't meet any of them in Fresno or Bakersfield.

Having just moved from Northern California, and having a husband that was raised in Bakersfield, that just made me LOL! He was probably disappointed in his minimal opportunities to surf as well.

Thanks! I will check that out. I have an upcoming 5th grader and 8th grader, so I have one more year before HS time.
