I'm looking for a butcher who has or is willing to order the large femurs or stripped ribs and cut them for my dog. I have a 125# Great Pyrenees who is aggressive chewer. The only thing he gets other than his kibble is a raw beef/bison bone every evening. Toys do not interest him, never have.

Thomlinsons is stupid expensive and HEB is unreliable for stock.

I live in the Leander/Cedar Park area

Does anyone know a butcher who does this?

I buy my Lab's bones at Thomlinsons 'cause I don't find them "Stupid expensive".

But, I'd check Central Market or Salt & Time.

Instead of looking towards Austin, I'd look to the west of you, maybe you could find such a butcher in Liberty Hill or Burnet?

I buy the raw beef or bison - 4 rib bones for $16 IMO is stupid expensive. I get that they are organic etc but honestly, I don't care about that, due to my dogs size, anything smaller than the jumbos or the ribs becomes a choking hazard. I'm looking to spend about $2 per bone since he goes through one per day. Thomlinsons is also having issues with their bison supplier and the other alternative was buffalo - $28 for 6 - ouch!

Ebay? Do they arrive frozen?

We have a coop in Austin for raw feeders and you can get things like this through them. You do have to volunteer to be a member though, which might not suit your needs if all you are buying is the beef bones. Austin (TX) Raw Feeders' Coop - Welcome!

Forgive my ignorance, but arent Buffalo and Bison the same thing? At least in American terms, unless they are getting actual African Buffalo meat.

Yes, you are correct! In North America they are the same thing, buffalo is an alternative name for the American Bison.

UNLESS you order a Buffalo burger...in which case you might just get a hamburger with hot sauce and some blue cheese dressing
