I was reading an article that traffic accidents in the Four Points area, around 620/2222 have been sky high this year, much higher than last year.

I think a lot of this is due to the fact that no improvements are being made to that intersection. They just opened a CVS pharmacy there so that will just add to the traffic.

Fortunately they are working on the turn lanes at McNeil and 2222 but why did they start late in the summer so construction overlaps with Vandegrift starting school? They could have started in June and already have been done with it. Knuckleheads...

Accidents have been sky high everywhere in Austin this year.

Good thing the city refuses to extend Four Points Drive to connect 620 to McNeil but has no problem approving the construction of an apartment complex, housing development, new office buildings, and most recently a 150 unit housing project on that same stretch of road. Not like any of that development without improving the roads in Four Points will make it worse or anything. Because, you know, having a second alternative to 620/2222 makes no sense when everyone (and I mean literally everyone) can just continue to use the 620/2222 intersection because who needs a second route?

It's done.

They missed it by 3 days.

I'd call that a success for any road project.

I am, however setting the over/under at 90 days until someone wraps their vehicle around that middle of the road light post.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. Not very smart huh? There will be a fatality there for sure.

I try to believe that people smarter than me make those decisions.

I'm often proven wrong.

And it hasn't made a damn bit of difference. Everyone is still stuck at the light at River Place anyway. This additional lane doesn't change that. Or change the fact that every, single, solitary car coming from 620, Westminter Glen and River Place (including every person and bus going to the middle and high school) HAS to get on 2222 and HAS to go through the light at River Place. See my previous post regarding the city's refusal to extend Four Point Blvd which would eliminate the need for a large number of people to get on 2222 at all.
