Any lighted trails will be short. The hike and bike is your best bet in that it has people all the time.

The Mueller trails would also be good for you.

North Austin sucks. Live downtown or a little past the river for the good stuff. Cheers

If you want access to (safe) parks, massive trails, green space & lots of swimming
Holes then north Austin is not for you. If you want access to shopping, long drives to parks, & mediocre food with limited nightlife then north Austin is for you.

Sounds perfect to me, honestly. I like to shop and don't mind driving to get to the good stuff.
