OK, well, used to be north Austin anyway. Heck, Crestview used to be north of the city limits. With today's market, I think location definitions are becoming more malleable.

But to the OP's point, not such a scary place to live but can't speak for the schools if that's an issue.

I'm actually working very closely within the neighbborhood and schools within my position. Not quite sure if it's where I would choose to live in the city though (I'm not in love with WB) but maybe somewhere between the two.

To clarify - I put in my address in SE Austin and got one non-fatal incident that was .95 miles away.

The address in North Austin (intersection of I-35 and St. Johns) is a lot more dangerous:

There have been 5 shootings within a 1-mile radius of this location in the last year, 3 fatal and 2 non-fatal. The closest shooting was 0.26 miles away.

For 350K, the area should have already "up and went" by now! I think the price is also a by-product of proximity to employment opportunities, and not an accurate reflection of the current quality of the neighborhood (schools, crime, amenities, quality of housing stock, etc).

The presence of UT+Samsung+Downtown has started to compound each other.
