For over a month now, the broadcast signal from KLRU has been terrible and inconsistent. Lots of pixelating, frozen screen, audio cutting in and out. Finally I had my cable company come out, thinking it was their problem. They told me that it was KLRU's broadcast signal problem and that many of the cable company's customers are complaining about the same problem. They told me to contact KLRU about their broadcast signal. So I did. Using their website, I asked about the problem and requested an answer. No answer.

Is anyone else having this problem with their cable reception from KLRU? This is really going to become a huge bummer when Downton Abbey starts their last season in January!

Thanks!

I watch KLRU on their over-the-air broadcast just fine with an antenna. You could always go that route.

Likewise. We live out in the boonies, and have an antenna made of cardboard and wire (used to be cardboard and aluminum foil) that pulls in Austin (including KLRU) quite well, as well as Temple/Waco/Killeen stations and, if the atmospheric conditions are just right, some Houston stations.

We used to have an outdoor antenna, but my husband read about this online when it was time to replace the outdoor antenna. Ours is in the attic hooked up to the wire that went to the outdoor antenna, and it's the best reception we've ever had.

So I'd be wondering about that "it's KLRU's fault" explanation, myself.

I called KLRU. Yes, they have been having intermittent signal degradation issues lately, and had been receiving calls from viewers reporting it. They thought they had it resolved now. I let them know that as of yesterday, there are still problems, at least in my area with my cable provider.

The HOA in my neighborhood does not allow an outdoor antenna on the property, and besides, I prefer to keep the variety & convenience of programming that cable/dish subscriptions offer (when it's working, that is). Guess I'll just have to try to work it out with KLRU or if all else fails, see if another cable/dish provider can provide a better signal for that station.

Thanks for your responses.

People usually mount the attic antenna inside the attic, not outside.

They have ones that mount to the rafters.

We have an HOA also and this is how most folks do it.

good to know! I'll look into how that's done. The word antenna makes me think of that huge, tall thing strapped to the outside of the house that we had growing up. I still remember dad getting up on the roof to adjust that thing periodically. Maybe people still have those in rural areas?

That's what we had, it was here when we moved in (as well as one of the really humongous satellite dishes from way back when that we never used), but we replaced it with the little one that my husband made that is mounted in the attic (well, really, it just sits up there so he can run upstairs and adjust it if weather conditions require - it's amazing what you learn that weather impacts when you live in the country!).
