What charter schools would you consider better than the public schools, Steve? I am genuinely curious. I have heard really conflicting things about most of the charter schools around Austin, particularly Harmony.

I hear the same about NYOS, lots of people who are happy, some who are mixed, and more than I would have thought who didn't find what they were looking for.

Yep, I've heard those same things about NYOS, and NYOS and Harmony seem to be the biggest/best games in town as far as charters go.

Here is the article I remember seeing.
Central Texas charter schools gain ground in suburban shift | www.mystatesman.com

I don't personally have direct knowledge of which charters are considered better or not. But the directional flow of enrollment seems to be away from public toward charter.

Austin ISD just approved a marketing budget to try to improve public perception and sten it's own leaking enrollment and exodus. No doubt a colossal waste of money that will be poorly spent and ineffective. That's just me being optimistic though.
