Hi - We are getting ready to have our pre sheet-rock meeting with our builder and would like to know what are all the things that I should be looking out for during this meeting.

I would appreciate any input or pointers to any links !!

Thanks in advance,

I take it you don't have an agent. What my clients do at framing is to have an independent inspector inspect the house then, and then again just before closing. It's a little extra expense, but you know that someone who absolutely knows what needs to be looked out for is there on your behalf. I've attended such inspections and it's amazing what can be found. Usually a representative of the builder goes along and marks what the inspector calls out so it can be fixed right away. These are all things that absolutely won't be able to be seen at the final inspection, of course, because they are behind the walls.

The house should also need a framing inspection by the city pre sheetrock. You can check the permit status pass/fail on the city permit site.

Here you go!

Hopefully your contract doesn't preclude you hiring an independent inspector and bringing them with you. The presheetrock inspection is on of the most important. Make sure the electrical outlets are at the height and position you want them.

Take pictures so you know where the electrical and plumbing lines are inside the walls, and so you have an idea where to start looking for studs when it's time to hang towel racks and what not.
