I recently just moved to Georgetown and am staying with family until I can find an apartment on my own. I just started a new job at Dell Children's in North Austin. I'll be starting a leveling program at UT in the fall. My question is, where is a good place to live? I'd prefer my rent to be no more than $900. Preferably in the $800 area. I come from a small town, so I'm used to 10 to 20 minute drives to anywhere, this whole hour commute thing is not sitting too well with me. Anyway, as far as school goes, I anticipate only taking 1 or 2 classes a semester, so I'm sure the scheduling can be worked with my work schedule. For work, the shifts go from 7A-7P and vice versa. I prefer country over city, so I really liked the round rock area. My max commute time that I'd like is max 30 minutes or so.

Is commuting from round rock to Austin crazy or is that a doable thing that I can achieve with all my conditions?
If I decide to move into Austin, is north Austin a good area? I've heard various things and don't particularly want to live in a bad part of town?

Sorry for sounding so picky. I realize I probably won't be able to get completely what I want, but it helps narrows things down a bit. I'm completely flexible with where I'm living, just not the price/commute time. Lol.

Thanks in advance!

Look at complexes in RR and Pflugerville as well as east towards Manor, (new toll road will get you to DCMC quick!)
