How much are you currently paying per gallon to refill your propane tank?

I'm not talking about community propane. Just trying to get some information on current propane rates in the Austin area for those that own their own tank and can purchase on the open market.

Thanks!

Okay, just had our propane tank filled day before yesterday, so I have the bill right in front of me. It varies, of course, just like gasoline prices do, but as of two days ago it was $2.53/gallon from the company we're using right now. Every so often I call around to the various companies and find the best price and then do a "keep full" with them, at least over the winter (when I REALLY don't want to run out of propane in the middle of a cold night!).

We're north of Austin, just north of Georgetown out in the country.

Thanks, TexasHorseLady! Just the information I was looking for.

Do you have any "favorite" propane companies that you like to use?
Also, do you use propane or electric for your clothes dryer?

We use electric for our clothes dryer (a 25 or so year old Maytag that has needed one repair, a new belt, in all that time). Propane for cooking, hot water, heating.

Right now we're with Taylor Propane (aka TBC Propane) and have been for a few years - quite happy with them. Most of them out this way are pretty good, though, in my experience.

Hmmm. Looks like it's time to call around for price comparisons! Don't usually like to do that in the middle of winter but may do it if it's that low with them. Wonder if they serve this area.

Thanks for posting,,,
I have an Amerigas bill in my hand; $4.079 a gallon! 332 gallons. Sounds like a rip off to me. Plus another $120 tank rental.
Near Houston.

Default April Prices

Thanks for starting this thread. Hopefully we can keep it going to provide some real market information for everyone. I've called a few companies recently and have done a bit of research.

Spot propane prices are about $0.52 (commodity market price) which is about 1/2 of what it was 1 year ago. Seems to reason we should expect residential propane prices to come down significantly soon. In addition, propane price is generally tied to oil prices as that it's major competitor in the commercial fuel space.

Action Propane quoted me $2.10 / gallon again (I've used them for 2 years and this has always been the price).

Direct Propane Services quoted me $1.95 for a 200 gallon minimum delivery.

I would also encourage everyone to call around and get pricing. I'd also encourage everyone to tell each vendor that their pricing is way high compared to their competitors and to the decline in the spot propane (wholesale) market.
