In Hutto. Over one weekend. Amazing.

Covert should open a new dealership out west, like on Hwy 71 - their inventory would be a lot safer there.

This has happened at Austin dealerships as well. Thieves are also going around subdivisions and stealing all of the tailgate-mounted spare tires. My neighborhood was hit last year.

Covert is on 71 in Bastrop. That's where I got my S10 back in the 90's.
Their Hutto one was built much later.
And that's out of the way by itself so I can see how they had time to steal so many.

I had my wheels and tires stolen in the 45 back in 2000. Kind of thing can happen anywhere.

Pretty sure it was a tongue in cheek remark about the land Covert had proposed to build a dealership at up by Falconhead that got all the NIMBYs there up in a knot. Hence, the "out west on 71".

Too bad, this is pretty much a rural-ish area in Hutto.

My wife drives by there every day.

Insurance will pay, but they still have a mess on their hands. How much does a mustang without wheels sell for?

Oh, not new to Austin by a long shot. Many years of the "if you don't build it - they won't come" strategy at play.

Wow. No fence ? No CCTV cameras ? No security guard on the lot ?

No Police patrols ?

I have my doubts about the Insurance company being willing to pay out, when it seems that the property owner didn't make even the most basic security precautions ?

Insurance company assesses the risks when they insure you, so it is likely the higher risk was included in their premium....
