Yes, and it's lovely. It definitely fits your request for an upscale dressy restaurant.

Lol. I know this might cause some hairs to rise but I can't help but think some of the places I've seen online sure do look like they could easily be in a CA city. It sure as heck reminds me of Silicon Valley San Jose. But I'm sure it still retains the Texas flare and culture. Other than that I think it's great cus Austin stands out as a unique city in Texas. Very nice!

I guess it's like when people say Cali when the locals don't. ATX = Austin for short

It can depend sometimes. Some of the trendiest, best "foodiest" restaurants are not necessarily upscale - like Launderette (my fave), Odd Duck, Barley Swine, Sway. You may be at a community table and it may be loud. "Diners on expense accounts" go to the steakhouses like Perry's, 3 Forks and seafood at Eddie V's, Trulucks, etc. and while the food is always good, they are not very hip. I'd put Jeffrey's and the new Fixe in that category as well. Clubby and swanky, yes. Places like Uchi and Uchiko (prefer Uchi), and Lamberts seem to straddle both worlds, which is nice.

Having drinks at the Four Seasons is always great. And a new place with a great view and rooftop bar is the Hotel Van Zandt bar. There's a restaurant - Geraldine's - but haven't been to eat there, only drink. When the big golf event was here, we happened to be downtown bar-hopping and saw famous golfers and hangers on at both the Four Seasons bar, the Van Zandt, 2nd on Congress, and the outside bars at the JW Marriott.

It's cool that you said that you saw famous golf pros at the hotel. It seems as though Austin is still a place where those with means have to go out to be seen and mingle. In LA much of the scene is filled with shady wannabes and the truly connected hide out in little hidden enclaves or party in their mansions in the hills. I never felt as though there was much of a scene to enjoy here.
