Looking for a community where you buy in and can move from independent living (apartment or house) to assisted care and/or nursing care. Within an hour from Cedar Park. I have heard of Brookdale Westlake Hills. Are there others? I am hoping to get my parents to move here so that when the time comes, they will be close enough for me to visit regularly and manage their care. Right now they are in their early 70's and fairly healthy and active but they are thinking about the what ifs in the future.

There's Westminster, close to 45th and Mopac. Not sure about Querencia - whether that's buy in or just pay rent

Thank you! Querencia actually looks like it could be perfect, and right down the street from Barton Creek CC which would be perfect for my dad. We are going to try to drive by before they go to the airport tomorrow.

My inlaws bought into a retirement apartment place that was supposed to allow nursing home care when they needed it. The buy in was $250,000 and the apartment rent was $3000 a month. When he needed the nursing home care ($5000 a month) he got very bad care (no help in his area and not answering calls for help) and they were always trying to get him thrown out. I would ask if there were any circumstances where the place you choose can stop offering care and send the patient somewhere else.

Also, it's not a buy in place, but look at The Pavillion. Assisted living with "memory care" attached. We were happy with the care
