Hello all,
this is the first time I am ever applying for the homestead exemption. I know how to apply for the same at Travis county.
My question is do I (or can I) apply for the same exemption with the Leander ISD seperately ? If yes, do I go to the LISD tax office straight or is there a form i can download from Internet?

thanks in advance for your responses.

You have to file the LISD exemption in Williamson County, and your other one in Travis. We do the same thing!

Why two. i.e., Williamson and Travis counties?

I pay property tax to both Travis county and Leander ISD (within Williamson county). Therefore I think i can get exemption on both the tax invoices.

Some of us live in Travis County limits but we are zoned for Leander ISD which is Williamson County, so we have to pay our taxes in two different counties and file two separate exemptions.

How does that Tax break down? Are you only paying the LISD portion on the Wiliamson side, and everything else on the Travis side?

So, to clarify, you're getting the Homestead exemption on the same house, just in two different counties, correct?

That's correct. It's not double dipping it is just to establish the value for the different taxing agencies. Travis and Williamson share the info (for instance, I protested my tax appraisal in Williamson county and Travis used the data from WC to establish my appraised value, I didn't have to file two protests).
There is probably something in the law requiring to have the Homestead exemption on file.
