How about the parts of 78759 that feed into Kathy Caraway Elem. and Laurel Mountain Elem., it's Austin but Round Rock schools. I think you can still find homes in that price range. It's not cookie cutter at all, there is a nearby hiking trail and it's very convenient to the Arboretum. Your wife's work place would be right in the hood.

Davis Elem. that feeds to Anderson HS also might have some options on the west side of 183.

Good luck!

You didn't offend me, just somewhat amused at the numerous threads started here by prospective home searchers who are concerned about "liberal" & "conservative" areas, that's all.

And as a house-hunting tip, check out the Balcones Country Club neighborhood on 183 - those are mostly custom homes built in the 1960s - 1980s. No cookie cutter houses to speak of in there.

I was thinking this, too. It's very pretty around there and the schools are top notch.

Here's Travis County voter turnout information:

Most of your neighbors, no matter where you live, probably don't care about politics much at all.

Tons of guns in '59 stay out. Check published CHL by zip code numbers.

tuesday2 and janineg: great suggestion, thanks. My wife and I ended up driving through that area last night, and we really liked it. We're going tomorrow to look at a house in 78759 that feeds into Laurel Mountain Elementary. Also liked Balcones Woods. Only downside is that homes in those areas seem like they're usually a little over $400k.

Y'all should just put signs in your front yards advertising that there are no guns in your homes. That will make it easier for you to find each other. And for people to find you.

Works for me! No guns to steal.
