Are there any city bike trails around Austin? I know many of the planned communities have their little trails, but I'm looking for something that actually goes somewhere and is hopefully scenic. Any suggestions?

Anyway, check out the Shoal Creek trail. Nice bike trail right through the city, it will connect you to other street routes as well.

My two favorite trails in Austin is Walnut Creek and The Green Belt. Walnut is more fun but the GB is lot more advance and I got sore from riding there. Scenery @ the GB is stunning. Make sure you check out the huge BEE HIVE off the cliff. WOW!!

Oh yea - also not sure if you like to meet others in group rides, but the Austin Ridge Riders are cool to ride with. They do a lot of ride programs for females, males, families and kid rides.

Check them out here: Austin Ridge Riders Mountain Bike Club
