Does anybody know if there's been any kind of movement to make Avery Ranch an approved quiet zone for the railroad tracks? Assuming the gates qualify, of course.

For reference: https://capmetro.org/faq.aspx?id=33#faq_rail_6

I thought it was already. The crossing at AR Blvd is "quiet", I believe. Not so for Lakeline, IIRC.

Capmetro doesn't list AR Blvd as one, but if it was I would have thought the zone would cover Lakeline as well. Looks like they're just under a mile apart though which might be too far though.

Lakeline may be its own animal since the train platform is so close to the intersection. Sounds like some of the 'whistle blowers' go a little nuts between Lakeline and Parmer Ln. Imagine living in the newest section of Northwoods !!! I'm pretty sure I could hit a tennis ball across the tracks from some of those lots!

Our neighborhood off 79 has been in existence for over 30 years with no quiet zone. A similar "movement" was spawned and supposedly there will be one in the future but it will cost a lot of money and Union Pacific is against them.

No offense, but the railroad tracks were present when you purchased the house, right?

That's why I'm asking

At least all of the current residents we've talked to say that you get used to it, but I wouldn't want to be complacent about it if it's actually possible to get something done.

Just found out from someone already in the neighborhood that according to the latest HOA meeting, the area should be declared a quiet zone sometime in 2017.

I have to wonder what neighborhood you refer to...part of Avery Ranch is nearly 3 miles from the tracks. Are you by chance speaking of Northwoods?(Not part of the AR HOA).

I'm not aware of any concerns by Avery Ranch residents over a "quiet zone" designation. It would be all over the FaceBook page, I reckon.

Northwoods is not in the AR HOA, but it is in the Avery Ranch area. In fact, we are surrounded by Avery Ranch HOA neighborhoods pretty much. I would think those who build in Pearson Place (also not AR) would generally state that they live in Avery Ranch.

What we heard from a resident at the Northwoods HOA meeting was that Lakeline is scheduled to be widened in 2017 (from 1 to 2 lanes each way). That the intersection is supposedly already approved to become a quiet zone, but that they need the gates to be upgraded before they can stop blowing the horns. That should happen with the street widening. Those who have a vested interest in all of this actually coming to be are advised to participate in Williamson County planning stuff for 2017.

Again please note that this information was from a resident.
