Private schools: Kirby Hall, Griffin, Khabele (Austin: middle school, lawsuit, education)

We are looking for a middle school for our sons and these schools appear to be valid options (location and relative cost). Any insights about these schools? Any info would is greatly appreciated!

Hi Austin Family! Other than location and cost, what are the most important factors to you in a school/education and can you give us an idea of the environment that you believe works best for your boys? My son attends Khabele middle school, so if you want to PM some questions to me, I'm happy to respond.

Griffin School is a high school, not a middle school.

Both Khabele and Kirby Hall have been through tremendous upheaval in the past decade, Kirby Hall seems to be well past it, Khabele is just a bit past it, haven't heard how the lawsuit against the founders is going or what happened after it was filed. We looked at for high school for one of my kids but quickly dropped it from our list but this was right at the peak of the troubles. I know people who have kids there and it seems to be doing fine . . .

Hopefully you aren't looking for next year but for the year after that? The admission cycle for next year is over.

I would look at St. Francis School (sounds religious but it is not) and Paragon Prep as well.

Depending on the individual needs of your children, don't forget the middle school magnet options in AISD (Adv academics at Kealing, Fine Arts at Lamar, Law and Humanities at Fulmore, Green Tech at Small)

Awesome thread on Khabele. The little info on Kirby in here is quite dated (6+ years old).
