Aren't foundation problems common in Austin? What causes that? Do home inspections find those problems or do you have to have a specialist come in and look?

Default What neighborhoods are similar to Shady Hollow, but without the traffic problem?

By similiar, I mean established, leafy neighborhoods with homes for under $300,000 in good school districts. It seems the traffic is a major issue.

Foundation problems are a problem in certain areas in and around Austin. Usually it's because of the black dirt around here. It's very expansive. In that part of Shady Hollow there is a layer of black dirt that is below the surface level. Most of the homes that are having problems in Shady Hollow were built by Ryland (I think).

Any home inspector should easily be able to spot a problem foundation. Look for cracks in the sheet rock, doors that won't close, cracking in the brickwork and floors.
