All,

I am looking for investing property in 78717, 78613, 78729. I list the pros and cons below based on my knowledge. Could you give me some suggestions? Thanks.

78729:
pros: great location
cons: old (may need more maintenance)
78717:
pros: good location, new
cons: expensive (no cash flow)
78613:
pros: lower price
cons: not very new, too many rental properties, location is not that convenient

I might be wrong. Which one do you prefer? Or any recommendations from other zips. Thanks.

How have you narrowed down to these zips? What kind of rental property are you looking to buy? What kind of profit or long term investment goals do you have for the property?

I am in same dilemma as you are now in Nov 2017, stuck between 78717 (LAKELINE METRO TRAIN) versus 76813 --> 5.5 miles away from train and the premium price i have to pay to buy in 78717 for train is around $80,000 (EIGHTY - DAMN - THOUSAND dollars) for brand-new construction - next to train station

Bigger - older home in 78613 is 70 thousand dollars cheaper, BIGGER Question - is $80,000 premium worth for next to train versus 5.5 miles of distance? ALSO higher HOA in 7817 versus 78613 - Rental price difference might be $200-$300/month - which is always a gamble - so now the toss of the coin is between them - if i should compensate +++ $200-$300 rent with walkable to train location VERSUS Cheaper property - low HOA - low rent
