I'm planning to propose to my girlfriend of 4.5 years by the end of this year and am trying to find a business in Austin where I can buy an inexpensive engagement ring (my girlfriend told me that she doesn't want me to spend a lot of money on an engagement ring). Does anyone have a recommendation of where I can find a place in town that would sell me a ring for under $1,000?

Benold's Jewelers - Pricing information

Our Diamonds - Gallery Jewelers

I;d try these 2 local stores - they are generally no pressure kind of places. Otherwise, maybe go for something vintage and hunt the vintage stores

I would try Costco and Sam's Club.

Both places would let you return it easily if she hates it (for cash back, not just store credit) and their jewelry is all pretty good quality for the price.

Try Etsy - I've heard you can get some pretty inexpensive but still good quality and/or unique rings.

Try Diamonds Direct. They have a good selection below the $1000 point.

First, congratulations. I would look online. Do you know what style of ring your future fiancee is interested in?

berricle.com has awesome CZ rings that honestly look real. I have a ring from there, and next to my genuine diamond ring you cannot tell the difference.

I was hoping to look for something in-person so I can get help from someone knowledgeable on this subject. My girlfriend wants a plain, no-frills silver band and a small stone. She doesn't like gold and is "not into the big bling."

Why not do something like this?

I bought my fiancées ring from this company and couldn't be happier with the quality. Finances were tight back then but she still tells me to this day that she thinks it's prettier than any diamond she's seen. They sell jeweler quality products with alternative stones at a fair price.
