It's funny how everyone complains about a cookie cutter neighborhoods and then you see this cool different concept and yet people still wanna complain.. I mean there is plenty of different neighborhoods in the area- gazillions of normal traditional communities, older neighborhoods with more unique characteristics, new neighborhoods with 70/80s styles being built, condos, town homes, newer apartments, homes on land etc. I mean I know I say it enough but quite honestly there's not very many undesirable locations in cedar park or Leander where you won't be close to shopping/retail/ etc. I love the location these homes and that it's a different format than your used to seeing. Some like it clearly and some don't.

I prefer side entry garages attached to the house. As in literally attached to the side of the house, not in front of the house. Seems like this was common in the 80s-2000s but not so much now.

And you will hear a train even in a no horn zone. While I don't live on the tracks, you do hear trains barreling through.

It may not be the culture here in Austin but in Plano almost all developments (new and old) have the garage in the back with alleys. I prefer it over the front garage. No trash out front, nice full front lawns, you can do stuff out back (change a tire, build a cabinet, whatever) in the garage with the door open without feeling like you are on display to the entire neighborhood.

I'm afraid from what I've seen around Austin, too many people would STILL find a reason to put the trash bins out front

I have a single family house in the neighborhood and ours is attached. But, it sounds like that is rare. I thought most houses had them attached too. We really wanted an attached garage so that was a huge plus for us.

I guess my scope was limited to the homes I could see on the way to the ones I visited. I particularly liked one that faced the 'park' on the New Hope side(Alamo Plaze @ Big Bend) and it seemed like the garages were attached to each other; but were not connected to the two houses in the "pair". YES! I found the one I remembered on Clarksville Lane. The garages belonging to the two adjacent properties are connected to each other; but neither connects to the respective houses. As you can imagine(and see if the link works), the driveways are nearly one-piece..https://www.realtyaustin.com/cedar-p...p5kaAvcW8P8HAQ

I would imagine it offers a bit of privacy in the small back yard; but rather limits the easy utility of the garage as it's ~25-30 feet from the house.

The less expensive "garden" homes all have detached garages. There's like 5 floor plans that fit into this. All of the others have attached garages. The last and newest phase of the neighborhood has pretty much all attached garages. Overall it's probably about 70% detached garages and 30% attached if I had to guess.
