Most schools in Austin accomodate a number of out-of-district transfers. I know Eanes ISD does this.

Talk to the school Principal (or Staff) of the school you are interested in.

Default Unless you teach in RRISD, probably not...

Unfortunately Round Rock ISD only accepts out of district transfers that meet very specific criteria.

Usually the district will post the transfer dates on their website. Pflugerville ISD just posted theirs today. This is intra-district transfers.

Now if you do transfer your child you will be responsible for transportation to and from school. They do not run the school buses for these kids.

I'd been told that it was fairly easy to move around within a district, and that may have once been true, but now many of the schools are closing to transfers because of crowding. Casis is closed to kids living outside residential boundaries, as is, I think, Brykerwoods and the elementaries in Eanes. O'Henry Middle took a bunch of transfers the past few years because, under the NCLB Act, any child from an under-performing school at the Middle or HS level has the right to transfer out of that school. O'H got a bunch of transfers in and without a lot of notice to prepare. They closed to transfers for awhile but may be open now. I guess the short answer is that, in theory, you can move around but there has to be enough space.

Some of this info came from asking around at the schools but some was passed along by other parents and may be more rumor than fact. Austinisd.org has a lot of info and a contact number for questions.
