My husband & I are thinking about renting for a while before buying in Austin. The thing is... we have 1 small (14 pound) dog and 3 cats. Is there any way to find an apartment that will take all 4 animals? We'd want a 2 or 3 bedroom apartment in South Austin or Southwest Austin. I guess we'd pay up to $1500/month (but would prefer less).

Thanks!

I live at the Hudson Miramont apts. and highly recommend them. They allow multiple pets. Built in 2005 so they're newer and clean. Fitness Facility, beautiful pool, valet trash pickup, putting green, large kitchens, gated community, etc. They're located in Southwest Austin. Oak Hill to be specific. Fast access to Mopac and Hwy 290/71. The one bedrooms have huge porches. I live in a 1 bedroom and pay $832. I looked at several complexes before moving here and you're not going to find a nicer place that will allow pets for the money. This is honestly NOT the reason for the rave reviews but... residents get like a $500 referral fee so if you mention my name that would be Awesome!!! Feel free to send me a direct message if you want more info.

Thanks! I'll keep that place in mind, too. How far is it to downtown?

10 minutes. You might also want to look into renting a house, condo or duplex. Most Realtors can help you with that.

My wife and I are moving to Austin on May 1st and are hoping to find either and apartment with a small yard or perhaps a duplex. My main concern is my kids (yes I call them my kids) safety. Our plan is to rent for a year or two while we look for "the" house.

What is you price range? Do you know what area of town you'd like to live in? How about # of bedrooms? I think it will be hard if not impossible to find an apartment with a small yard. Your best bet is to find a duplex, house, or townhouse. Again a Realtor can help you with this. Since you live out of town they can email you properties that will fit your criteria. Send me a direct message if you would like help with this.

The Miramont actually used to be an Alexan property, so it's probably pretty similar to the Alexan Galleria. I think the solarium option is only available in the one bedrooms. It's just basically another room (not a bedroom). If you get the solarium, it takes the place of the balcony. All the balconies are pretty good size. On the one bedrooms the balconies are HUGE for an apartment. On mine I have a table and chairs, 2 adirondack chairs, a side table, 4 large potted plants and a dog bed. I'm positive they are not full. Come check it out and please mention my name.
