So I have moved to this beautiful city back in November and am loving every minute of it. But I do have a question that no one seems to know. It's not life altering but just one of those things that bugs me. Why do all the local news chanels report the weather at both ABIA and Camp Mabry? They are relatively close to each other and the weather seems to be the same at both locations so why do they report both?

ABIA is the airport, where many official weather measurements are taken...but because of its location (outside of the city), it can sometimes have unusual readings, particularly during cold weather.

Camp Mabry also has an official weather station due to its military status, and its location inside the city makes it more "realistic" for urban weather readings.

When Mueller Airport was still open, the official weather readings were taken there, and newscasts rarely mentioned the Mabry readings.

I live outside the city limits so I pay more attention to the ABIA reports than the Mabry reports. If you live in the city then the Mabry temps are closer to what you have.
