Already have and it's not recent. Everyone here says Austin (w/ no TX qualifier) and has for a while. Of course, everyone IN TX says, Austin, not Austin, TX.

It's also helped by the many that like/enjoy/love Austin, and live there OR visit there, but do not love Texas.

If people "love" austin, but do not love texas, then they dont belong here.

I still say Austin TX to people because for some reason people hear "Boston" when I say "Austin". The TX makes it clear.

On a recent trip to the actual Boston, people kept thinking I was saying I was from Boston.

Seems there are at least 22 cities/towns in the US named Austin. I reckon we would have to think ourselves pretty danged special to call our city "Austin" with no qualifier.

Well, a Texan needs a qualifier for Paris.

And Santa Fe. When I first met my (now) sister-in-law, and she told me she was from Santa Fe, I assumed it was New Mexico. It took a while before I realized it was Santa Fe, TX.
