We have 3 dogs and need ideas of where to kennel them while we wait to close on a house which probably will take 30 days or less.

Any short term lease apartments that would allow
us to keep one or two of the "kids" with us? Then we would need to kennel only one dog.

Moving from Wichita to Austin...

In Austin, you'll be pretty hard pressed to find apartments that don't allow pets! For short term leasing, check these people out:

Don't forget to check the "Pet Friendly" box when you inquire about apartments.

My MIL just entered into a short term lease in the Bridgehead Apartment Condos. It's at the intersection of the 360 and the 2222. I do know they allow pets. They were the only place out of about 20 that we called that did short term leases.

We used Hip Hounds for our dog boarding when we were waiting to move here. It's at www hip hounds dot com. They do a cageless set up, which our dog prefers. Good luck and welcome!

We always take our German Shepherd to Taurus on McNeil - hands down the best kennel I have ever seen! Our dog doesn't want to come home after going there!

Also check for apartment sublets, you'll save lots of money over the corporate short-term leases. You can find short term sublets on craigslist, it takes some effort to wade through all the listings but within a few days you can easily find what you need and most apartment complexes here are VERY dog friendly, many are now including dog parks within their property!

Austin is a dog friendly city, so I am sure you will not have any issues finding something. That being said, I am not sure where you are located, but in Lakeway there is a great place called "Just Four Paws" we take our dog there all the time. They even have a taxi pick up service available. My dog loves it there. He has been to several others in the area, but for some reason, I never have to drag him into Just Four Paws.

I'm so insecure, I'd be afraid that my dog would love the boarding facility more than living with ME!

I am also devoted to Taurus, but we go to the new one on Metric. They even give doggy report cards! (It's a bit pricey to do for a month though!) I'm sure you can find a pet friendly apt. Just be prepared to pay high deposits!
