Hello all: I will possibly be moving to Austin area and working with the VA located at Woodward St. In trying to avoid the crowds/traffic - is living in Buda and then driving the short commute to Austin a good idea? Or are there areas in the Woodward area that are good to live? Thanks in advance for any input.

If you get to work no later than 7:30, you are looking at a 20-25 minute commute from Exit 221 in Buda driving up I-35. If you leave that intersection at 7:15 or later, you are looking at 45 minutes if there are no accidents - which will occur 2-3 days per week.

Buda would be a decent commute. You might not even have to deal with 35 if you take the right back streets. Also if you ended up in NW Buda you could take some of the back roads up to 290. However you have to leave around 7am to avoid most of the school traffic.

SW Austin would be a better commute, but you would not be able to get as much for your money.
