New direct service to Raleigh and London (2nd airline) in 2018 as well. Plus plenty of room to grow. It's like all the infrastructure we don't have on our highways...we do have at ABIA!

Airlines aren't (that) stupid.

We have a sufficiently large airport/runways/capacity. Flights will follow demand, not prevent that demand.

And the airport is expanding. It's progress.

Amazon is requesting an urban location. The Statesman site could easily provide 8 million sf of office space. If they want an urban campus with airport access, there is a huge underdeveloped amount of commercial land next to the St. Elmo's marketplace.

Their RFP says they're considering suburban as well as urban.

It would be difficult to meet their criteria with a suburban location. Connectivity, diversity, education center, 8 million sf, airport access, walkability, density..

True. Oracle snagged downtown waterfront right from under everyone's nose. Amazon may do the same.

the catalyst people bought it to refurbish the student housing, but I get the sense they are not prepared to fully develop it once oracle announced. They might be just as happy to sell it at a profit.

I heard Northern VA is a contender - in addition to WF Mr Bezos also owns the Washington Post which has really turned itself around.

Default Are they really welcome?

Hopefully the decision makers at Amazon haven't read any of the comments made online by Austinites saying some variation of "please don't move here, there are way too many people moving here raising house prices and changing things and by the way, why isn't my house selling for more money?, etc."
