all those pics just make me miss austin more. i'll see how i'll fare here in tyler in a year's time, and if i'd still miss austin, i might try to get a job there with a different employer next time.

I remember when the Gondolier hotel was the newest, hippest place in town (early '60s):

Too bad they did not protect that view from south IH35 up to the capitol building. I think Omni hotel building was first big building to block the view.

Actually the first building to partially block the view of the Capitol from that angle was the old US post office on 8th Street.. It did block a substantial part of it, leaving the dome and a little bit more in view.

It sure is! Nope, I go there occasionally, usually when I need a change of pace from Medici. Great patio though, and they did just start using Cuvee I heard, so I may be going more often!

An aside as a fellow coffee lover- do you use an AeroPress? I bought one a few weeks ago and it's mind blowing!!!
