Hey, neighbor! How's the cave/sink hole??? Do y'all own the rights to the caves under your homes??? I know we have some in Avery Ranch; but none have opened up...yet

Saw that Thursday morning when we were driving over to our son's house in the Woods of BC. The street was blocked off so we had to take a detour.

The hole then was about 10'x20', with a couple sections of sidewalk & curb gone as well as a part of the street bigger than a long bed pickup. Later the hole was widened as the crew was doing some work around it. Son said a wood barricade was put up - guess to keep the neighborhood kids & spelunkers out.

I'd be worried if I were the adjacent homeowner - the edge of the hole was not even 10' from his house, as I remember.
Told the wife I'm seriously gonna go on a diet. Ain't going to take any chances walking around my yard.

Yeah, there are probably thousands of those little caves all around the Austin/RR area. Crawled through a few of them in my HS days - especially over in the Robinson Ranch White Lime quarry. It's like a honeycomb down there in some areas.

I've got a friend who lives close by that new sinkhole cave, and she said there are longtime residents of the area who knew about the cave and used to go adventuring in it in the mid-80s. I wonder how the builder missed it.

While driving over to son's house today (he lives 2 blocks from this spot), took this picture (facing south) at the corner of Cambria & Ephriam - the cave begins in the middle of Cambria and goes about 170' to the left according to what the investigators said, with the ceiling anywhere from 10' to 15' high.
It has to pass under the 2 story house to the left (eastward) and over to his neighbor. Two residences on Cambria have parked their cars out on Ephriam, as their driveways are inaccessible:

Hmm reminds me of Poltergeist. They didnt do anything about the cave, just covered it up and built houses on it. Cant wait for the ghost to start showing up.

Not sure what you mean by COA
City of Austin IS the city of Austin
Unless I'm mistaken, most of the unincorporated 78717 being discussed is Round Rock ETJ, not Austin.

Brushy Creek MUD residents voted to leave the CoA ETJ over 20 years ago, and now we are in the Round Rock ETJ. Thank you State Legislature!

Don't know about Davis Spring or Avery Ranch, but they are definitely within Austin city limits.
Just Googled up the Round Rock ETJ map - the pdf link is here:
