Indians are probably the largest international group we get here in Austin, I don't think it is so much about being a minority as it is being from another country/culture. And a couple of my Indian co-workers have been rattled by the rhetoric regarding immigration and what the long-term stability might be for them if they plan to pursue green card or citizenship. Beyond that, the 'vibe' going out from the U.S. is very anti-immigrant. Their Indian families were worried about their safety during the election process. It may sound silly, or you may disagree with it, but it is what people see from afar.

In addition to immigration and cultural differences, Indians in the Austin area are also worried about targeted robberies (you can look it up). These robberies are specifically targeted at Indian homeowners in upscale neighborhoods as they tend to own large amounts of gold and diamond jewelry which are used several times a year and invariably not secured.
