You might find my page and the blog discussions about South Austin vs. North Austin useful in making your decision about what part of town to move into: www.myspace.com/soaustintx. Best of luck with your move!

metheuse, I LOVE your comments about 78704 vs. 78745! Now I just have to figure out where the 45 is. I'm pretty far south, behind the Kerbey Lane Cafe on South Lamar, and it's still 78704 here (which really surprised me cuz this sure ain't Travis Heights!)

I'd get one of those 45 bumper stickers you're plugging but I'd be fakin' it.

Default The Austin 45

Hey Deeptrance,

The 45 is bordered by Ben White on the north side, Slaughter Lane on the South, Manchaca/Congress on the east and Brodie Lane on the west. You're in the heart of the 04, so you're either rich or renting.

Default In the 45

Hello metheuse,
I'm also a 45 resident/homeowner and, reading these posts, I was a bit surprised to see what little attention our zip code is given. People endlessly discuss 04 but nobody even seems to know that we exist down here in the 45. Granted, a lot of the zip code is very "suburban" but I still thought there would be some mention of it - either as another "weird" enclave or at least as another place to live in the city. These posts imply that the only places worth mentioning are 04, central downtown, and the northern suburbs. Oh well, I guess at this point attention is not something that we need. I'll just quietly watch my property values go up and, along the way, hope to meet some interesting people where I live. I know they're here. I intend to start rocking your bumper sticker soon, by the way.
