Austin comes out on top for second year in a row.

1. Austin, Texas
Metro Population: 1,942,615
Median Home Price: $278,608
Median Annual Salary: $50,830

For the second year in a row, Austin is the No. 1 Best Place to Live in the U.S. The capital of Texas continues to receive interest from the tech industry, leading to a strong job market and high desirability among Americans as a place to live. Aside from the job opportunities, new residents are attracted to Austin for its eclectic arts and music scene, which are highlighted in the annual South by Southwest festival, which features music, film and television attractions.

I selfishly wish our growth would stop for a while, but it doesn't look like it will anytime soon.

Wouldn't it be great if the actual median home price were that low? Inaccurate stories like this are one of the reasons those deciding to relocate to Trendy Town are hit with a harsh dose of reality when they arrive.

Yep. I know a guy that moved up from San Antonio who looked all over the area for a 3/2 Unser 300k. I pushed him towards 78729 but he ended up in Leander. Plenty out that way. The problem is Otoole get sold on downtown, not thecsurvs. And then it’s sll problematic after,

Interesting. Two young men sitting at the bar of one of mine and my husband’s favorite restaurants last night said they had just moved here from Austin.

Nope. Not according to Realty Austin.

The average home price in February was $376,575, up 4.8% over last year. Despite February being a historically slow month, home sales increased 5.7% over last year. The median home price was $299,900.

These statistics are for Single Family homes across the Austin-Round Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA).

Compared to Steiner where I live, they're cheap.

Good, bring everybody in the world here and fill up the city. Drive my rental prices right up by all means. That is more money in my pocket when I move.

They will be familiar with the heat; but the humidity is more like Houston. Unless one gets the ocean breezes, Charleston can be one STEAMY place!
