I live in NW Hills now and love it, however, I have a 70s house and am deciding between renovating or moving to Riverplace. We love the way the neighborhood is so engaged, and the parents are so social at Doss. I'm wondering what the vibe is like in RP, particularly at RP Elementary. I appreciate the insight!

we have friends in RP and RP is very hands on as well. Parents are very involved and the community has tons of get togethers.

I live in northwest hills now and personally I could never live that far out. The intersection of 2222/360 is just a nightmare and northwest hills is so close in.

Do you mean 2222/620?

Nope. They meant 2222/360, which is the bigger nightmare from RP.

I've heard the homeowners association (HOA) in Riverplace is pretty strict. If you're not familiar with living in a neighborhood with an HOA, you may want to do more research before seriously considering Riverplace.

Also, Austin97's point about the 2222/360 intersection is a good one. And if you have kids who would eventually go to the Leander ISD schools Four Points Middle School and Vandegrift HS, you'd get to experience the little slice of hell known as the intersection of 2222 & McNeil Road (which leads to those two schools).

I used to live in Northwest Hills and we moved out to Steiner Ranch. Yes, Riverplace's HOA can be rough. But from folks who live there, it's worse on paper than it is in action.

We really liked Northwest Hills, but we moved because, although schools were good (we were right next to Hill Elementary), we weren't crazy about AISD in general. The attendance zone is also pretty broad. For example, Jester (off of 2222, just west of 360) is zoned to Hill. I just think it's hard to have a community feel to a school when so many people that go there are not in the same community.

There also just weren't a lot of young kids around us. Riverplace is littered with them. I love the fact that on any given day, my kids can just go out the door and find a bunch of friends to play with. There are literally at least 12 kids in my child's grade, not even just school but grade, that live within 1/4 mile of us. Riverplace is very similar.

Parents at RP elementary are very involved and very social. Everyone seems to know everyone else. I think it's a great community. Yes, the traffic out here sucks, although Riverplace isn't as bad as Steiner. But I seemed to find myself on MoPac a lot when I lived in Northwest Hills, and that was no picnic either.

River Place is a nice place to live!

Also the commute isn't too bad it is about 15 min to MoPac on 2222 between 8-9am

Hope that helps
