Hello, first of all I am loving Austin. It is a wonderful city. I am new to this area and I am just thrilled to be here.

I am wondering if anyone can tell me of a good place to meet people. My husband and I have a newborn. We would like to find a place to go that is very family oriented. So, if someone could give me some ideas I would really appreciate it.

Also, are there any mommy and baby club type things that anyone knows of?

Sorry, if these questions have already been asked. I tried to do a search but nothing came up.

I found the playgroup I'm in through meetup.com There are tons of groups in Austin. Just through that you'll learn of the multitude of family oriented things to do.

You can also just walk around your neighborhood and find people with kids who live near you which makes it much easier later on when the kids want to go to their friends house.

Check out the local Austin Family or Austin Parenting magazines that you can pick up for free at the grocery stores or other places. They usually have great calendar sections in the back with tons of family activities. We always meet people at Waterloo Ice House or Central Market!
