Fewer people, less traffic, cheaper...A LOT CHEAPER, friendly, better music scene,...that is what comes to mind,

The people are more laid back, less pretentious and less about keeping up with the Jones's. Not to mention, a lot friendlier. Then I'd just add what S6Sputnik posted.

Denton over Austin hands down...LA over Austin hands down...(I haven't been to LA, but the force tells me it is better than Austin...which I have been too...)
